When Everything Goes “Wrong”

And Abundance Gets Louder

“What if the delay isn’t denial —
but a doorway to something more aligned?”

-Janet Hutchens

Years ago, I took a trip to Switzerland that I will never forget.

It was meant to be one of those dreamy European escapes — a charming chalet, breathtaking mountain views, leisurely dinners, and that unmistakable Swiss stillness in the air.

Instead, it became a masterclass in abundance.

Because almost everything that could go wrong… did.

And yet every single misstep was met with something better than we originally planned.

The Chalet That Wasn’t

The first surprise came when we arrived at the chalet we had rented. It was already occupied. Not by strangers, but by the other side of the family — who, as it turned out, hadn’t spoken to our side in decades.

No one had mentioned this small but important detail. There we were, standing in the doorway of a generational standoff we didn’t even know existed.

It would have been easy to feel frustrated or embarrassed. Instead, we quickly learned that the five-star hotel next door just happened to have exactly three rooms available — for that week only. Spacious rooms. Sweeping mountain views. Crisp robes and impeccable service.

What looked like a problem became an undeniable upgrade.

The Car That “Disappeared”

The rental car we had reserved wasn’t available when we arrived to pick it up. After a brief apology, the agent said, “We do have a brand-new Mercedes. Would that suffice?”

We drove through the Swiss countryside in quiet, leather-lined elegance, laughing at how effortlessly each “issue” seemed to resolve itself. What could have felt like inconvenience became part of the adventure — and a far better one at that.

The Overbooked Reservations

Two of our dinner reservations were accidentally overbooked. Both times, the solution was not inconvenience but elevation — we were moved into spectacular, spacious dining rooms overlooking the city. Tables with views. Private-feeling corners. The kind of experience people request months in advance.

For ten days, around every corner, disruption became delight. What appeared to be misalignment kept revealing itself as something better than we could have arranged ourselves.

And that’s when it clicked.

Abundance doesn’t always show up in the form you planned for.

Sometimes it arrives disguised as inconvenience.

What Switzerland Taught Me About Money

So often in business — especially for women building heart-centered, spiritually aligned companies — we interpret obstacles as signs of failure. We assume that if something falls through, it means we miscalculated. If a client backs out, we question our value. If a launch doesn’t unfold perfectly, we tighten and brace.

But what if the apparent setback is simply the path rearranging itself in your favor?

Money is responsive energy. It is not just strategy and spreadsheets. It responds to your steadiness, your openness, and your willingness to stay expansive when circumstances wobble. On that trip, we could have contracted. We could have argued, demanded compensation, or spiraled into frustration.

Instead, we stayed flexible. We trusted that something was unfolding beyond what we could see.

In moments like that, I often think of the affirmation by Louise Hay:

“All is well. Everything is working out for my highest good. And out of this situation only good will come.”

That was the energy of the entire trip.

And every single time, something better arrived.

The Upgrade Principle

This is the part most people miss about abundance: it often requires release before it delivers expansion.

When you cling tightly to one specific outcome — one client, one offer, one timeline — you may unintentionally block the upgrade that is waiting beside it. Spaciousness creates room for surprise.

  • The client who cancels can make space for a premium one.

  • The opportunity that dissolves can redirect you toward a more aligned partnership.

  • The “no” can quietly escort you toward a bigger “yes.”

Switzerland taught me that abundance has a sense of humor. It also has impeccable timing (just like Switzerland itself!).

What looked like conflict, inconvenience, and overbooking turned into a consistent pattern of elevation. The solutions were not equal to the problems — they were exponentially better.

That is abundance magic.

It is not about everything going smoothly. It is about everything working in your favor — even when it initially appears otherwise.

When the “Wrong” Thing Is the Upgrade

If something feels off in your business or finances right now, pause before labeling it failure.

  • Ask yourself whether this could be a reroute rather than a rejection.

  • Ask whether life might be positioning you for a five-star pivot instead of the chalet you thought you needed.

Abundance is not fragile. It is intelligent. It adapts. It upgrades.

And it supports those who expect to be supported.

Sometimes the “wrong” thing is simply the doorway to something better than you would have chosen for yourself.

And sometimes, it gives you the Mercedes, spectacular views, and 5 star service.
